Underclassman Update
12.31.04
According to the
Salem Statesman Journal, The Underclassman opens January 7th.
Earthsea Reviews
12.10.04
Some critics loved it:
From the
Press Argus-Courier:
"Now, we move ahead to 2001, "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy and "Harry Potter" reigns at the box
office and soon fantasy becomes very big. There’s a risk that studios may jump on the bandwagon a little
too quick to put out the next thing.
Thankfully, the Sci-Fi channel didn’t with the "Earthsea" mini series."
Some didn't:
From the
Modesto Bee:
"Ashmore is a likable young actor who made a positive impression in an old Disney Channel series ("In
a Heartbeat") and especially in the "X-Men" films as Bobby Drake (aka Iceman), but he's saddled with such
a lackluster story in "Earthsea" that even his presence can't break through the same-old, same-old muck."
Shawn Updates
12.08.04
ComingSoon.net
recently talked to Shawn regarding his upcoming movies ('3 Needles' and 'Dot'), X-Men 3 and the
possibility of him being in the new Superman movie (he doesn't confirm it, but it looks like it could
happen!)
Shawn in 3 Needles
11.11.04
From ComingSoon.net/The Hollywood Reporter:
"X-Men" series star Shawn Ashmore (aka Iceman) will star in the independent feature 3 Needles for
Canadian writer/director Thom Fitzgerald. The Hollywood Reporter says Ashmore is replacing Scott Speedman
in the role.
The film is a triptych about the AIDS pandemic that plays out in South Africa, China and North
America. In the North American segment, Ashmore will play a second-rate pornography actor who passes his
monthly blood test by stealing samples from his geriatric father.
Lucy Liu, Sandra Oh, Sarah Polley and Olympia Dukakis co-star. Fitzgerald wrote the screenplay and is
producing with Bryan Hofbauer.

He just completed 2 new movies. One entitled "Safe" in which he plays a young boy by the name of
Bobby who throughout his life has been told what to do when he suddenly discovers a safe in the corner
of his room. Yet the key to the safe is the same key to his dreams. It's a short film lasting 24 minutes.
His second film is entitled "A Separate Peace" which is airing on Showtime. It's about a group of prep
school boys in the 1940's. Ashmore plays Chad.
Aaron can currently be seen on "Veronica Mars" playing Troy Vandergreef who is a rich high school
boy who catches the eye of Veronica. The series can be seen on UPN at 9:00 on Tuesday evenings. (Check

Anime Insider Picks Shawn, Again
01.29.04
The editors over at Anime Insider seem to really like Shawn. In the February 2004 issue, they pick
who they want to star in a live action version of Neon Genesis Evangelion:
"Shawn's come a long way from his Animorphs days, but his uncanny resemblance to Shinji's classmate
and Fourth Child Touji, as well as his ability to play younger roles like he did as Iceman in X-Men,
makes him an obvious choice. Somebody get him some dark hair dye, and we're golden."
